Abounding in Hope! (Heading to General Assembly in Detroit)

I’m hanging out in the Dubuque airport, waiting for my flight to Chicago. From there I’ll fly to Detroit. for the 221st General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). I love the Dubuque airport. If you’ve seen the sitcom Wings, you’ve got a general idea of the atmosphere. Before I board, I’m savoring free wi-fi and thought I would post a quick summary of what’s ahead.

I don’t remember what I’ve shared about GA, but to catch you up, I was selected to represent University of Dubuque Theological Seminary (UDTS) as a Theological Student Advisory Delegate (TSAD) for General Assembly (GA). I’ll be serving on Committee 12, described as “An Assembly Committee that only acronym maniacs could love…” We address matters related to the Board of Pensions (BOP), Presbyterian Investment and Loan Program (PILP), Presbyterian Publishing Corporation (PPC), and the Presbyterian Foundation. That link describes our business better than I can. But do know, I love some good acronyms. Ready for this?

I’m excited to go to GA221 as a TSAD for UDTS, where I’ll be on Committee 12 looking at BOP, PILP, PPC and the Presbyterian Foundation.

(Security just opened so I suppose I could head that way.)

I’ll be blogging here daily this week.  I was also asked to submit a couple blog posts for the Presbyterian Outlook, so I’ll share those when applicable, too. Gotta board a plane now. I’m excited about this week and hope you’ll join me in person, through the blog, or on twitter
