Brain frazzle (or Thursday thoughts)

I don’t really have enough coherent thoughts on one solid subject for today. I have brain frazzle, though and I challenged myself to do one blog each day, Monday-Friday. So here are Thursday thoughts:

1.) Swimming Update: I went for the 3rd day in a row. Today I felt like a real swimmer. There were a few kids in the pool but I ignored them as well as I could, swimming back and forth across the pool in the far lane. I think I figured out a modified back stroke sort of swim. It works for me. I also discovered a side stroke that works. I’m not good at it yet. Honestly I feel sort of like Nemo. One arm moves farther and faster than the other. Once the kids threw a basketball and it bounced off the wall and nearly hit me. The lifeguard saved guarded my life by asking them to keep the ball over in the shallow end. That mostly worked except for when it came skimming across the water, splashing oblivious me as I did my back crawl thing. I didn’t drown the kids. So there’s that.

2.) VBS Update. Tomorrow is the last day. Our final program is tomorrow at noon. I just bought all the groceries and unloaded them in the kitchen. Thinking back over the week, I realize it has been fantastic, I’m glad to be part of such a caring church community and God is definitely good. I’m ready to get a full night’s sleep, but I will miss the crazy fun that has filled this building and my life since Sunday. All week I’ve had what the kids call “the rap song” in my head. We’re using Cokesbury’s Operation Overboard VBS and the kids absolutely love the Dare to Care song. Whenever I’ve managed to get that out of my head, I’ve had that silly ear candy song “Call Me Maybe” in my head. I’ve just embraced both. I should try a mashup of them. I blame the brain frazzle on VBS but really, it’s gone incredibly well. I’ll probably spend a little more time writing out thoughts about Vacation Bible School tomorrow.

3.) Wedding update: I HAVE FOUND MY DRESS. This is huge and a story worth sharing, similar to the ring story. I wanted something I loved and something affordable. Fortunately both desires are met in a single dress. I’ll share that full story early next week. No picture, though. Steve is the most loyal blog reader I have and he wants to keep it a surprise. I’m terrible with surprises. I always sneak a peak or rush to tell someone.

4.) Brain frazzle sounds like a candy to me. It would be sorta like Pop rocks or the best Australian candy in the world: fruit tingles. It also sounds like a game show. Hmmm.

5.) Have a lovely Thursday evening. See you tomorr
